Thales considers Vietnam is one of the development objectives of the Group's strategy in the region, especially in the defense sector.
On 3 June 2013, at the Vietnam's Ministry of Defense Headquarters, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien, Deputy Minister of Defense to receive Mrs. Pascale Sourisse, vice president in charge of development of the international Thales Group (France) to visit and work in Vietnam.
At the meeting, Admiral Nguyen Van Hien congratulated Mrs. Pascale Sourisse to be the newly appointed position of vice president in charge of development of the international Thales Group.
Appreciate the cooperation results in recent years, Deputy Minister Nguyen Van Hien proposed Thales Group continues to send experts to support the Vietnam Ministry of Defense technology employed for the program, a joint project of the soon.
For her part, Ms. Pascale Sourisse said that Thales affirmed Vietnam is one of the development objectives of the Group's strategy in the region, especially in the defense sector and pledged to support Vietnam in training.
Thales is a multinational conglomerate operating worldwide, providing integrated solutions and equipment for the aerospace, transportation, defense and security.

Belarus will Supply Vietnam Unmanned Aircraft Systems
TSAMTO. Belarus plans to deliver to Vietnam unmanned aircraft systems. The Prime Minister of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich at a meeting with Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, BelTA informs.

Vietnam, Belarus to step up military and technical cooperation
MINSK, 17 May (BelTA) - Vietnam and Belarus will step up military and technical cooperation. The agreement was reached at the 13th meeting of the joint Belarusian-Vietnamese commission on military and technical cooperation in Minsk on 16 May, BelTA learned from the State Military Industrial Committee of Belarus.
Noting the high potential of military and technical cooperation, Belarus and Vietnam confirmed mutual interest in intensifying this cooperation and raising it to a new level. To accomplish this, the Belarusian side proposed the Vietnamese partners to develop new forms of cooperation in order to more fully exploit the opportunities of both defense enterprises of Belarus and those of its partners in the military and technical cooperation,” said the committee.
In particular, time is ripe to switch over from export/import operations to the transfer of technology for the manufacture of military products, use of innovative technologies and R&D products, and setting up joint manufactures.
“The two states have been taking steps to bolster cooperation in the military and technical sector. The two countries have capabilities for that and mutual interest: from maintenance and modernization of armament and military hardware to joint production of new military goods,” the State Military Industrial Committee said.
The commission focused its attention on the issues regarding training for Vietnamese specialists, including at the Military Academy of Belarus.
The Belarusian delegation was headed by acting First Deputy Chairman of the State Military Industrial Committee, Chairman of the Belarusian part of the commission Igor Bykov. The Vietnamese delegation was led by Deputy Minister of the National Defense of Vietnam, head of the Vietnamese part of the commission Colonel-General Truong Quang Khanh.

Russian Media: Vietnam negotiates buying Russian missiles
(ĐVO) Vietnam will soon continue signing contracts to buy more equipment and new sophisticated modern weapons from Russia to enhance combat capability for the country's armed forces, Russian media said on May 14.
Russia and Vietnam are discussing about some military technical-support contracts, Director of The Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC), Alexander Fomin said on Tuesday.
"The new contract could be signed in the near future" - said the header of FSMTC, he refers to the discussion of providing military equipment and new weapons to Vietnam.
Fomin further revealed that Vietnam have expressed interest in Russian advanced weapons systems, especially in the medium-range and long-range air defense systems, fighter planes, equipment for Navy ships. Mr. Fomin stressed that, at present, the details of the new contract is being prepared.
"When everything is agreed, we will publish the report on the contract," Fomin told Russian Military News.
